First edition, first printing. Signed by Dylan Thomas. Publisher's original [first state] green cloth, spine titles stamped in gilt on black. Top edge red. Without dustwrapper. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a touch toned to the spine. The contents with the ownership signature and ink stamp of Canadian poet and bibliographer Douglas G. Lochhead to the front endpaper, and a some toning to the first and last two leaves are otherwise clean and bright throughout.

Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page "Dylan Thomas / Vancouver / 1952". Thomas arrived for his second (and last) visit to Vancouver on April 7th 1952, reading to packed houses at The University of British Columbia on April 8th and the Vancouver Art Gallery on the evening of the 9th having made a recording for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation earlier in the day. Provenance: From the library of Canadian poet, academic librarian and bibliographer Douglas G. Lochhead who at the time of Thomas's reading was chief librarian at (U.B.C. affiliated) Victoria College, now the University of Victoria, in Victoria, British Columbia.
