THROUGH THE SUBARCTIC FOREST: A Record of a Canoe Journey from Fort Wrangel to the Pelly Lakes and Down the Yukon River to the Behring Sea.

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original pictorial brown cloth with titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Page edges untrimmed. Illustrated with 17 black and white photographs and drawings and two folding maps. A very good copy, the binding square and secure (although with cracking to the front hinge), a small bump to the foot of the upper board and a couple of minor marks to the upper board. The contents with a little cracking in places, some scattered foxing to the preliminary pages and textblock edges, and a few short tears and a little creasing to the second folding map are otherwise in very good order and remain free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.

A detailed account of English explorer Warburton Pike's (1861-1915) 4000-mile adventure through the Canadian Arctic.
