THE HISTORY OF THE FIRST PUBLIC RAILWAY, (STOCKTON & DARLINGTON). The Opening Day and What Followed.

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original maroon cloth with gilt titles and vignette of a railway engine to the upper board. Patterned endpapers. Illustrated with 26 black and white photographic illustrations. A very good copy, the binding secure with a small bump/nick to the cloth to the head of the upper board and some minor scattered marking to the upper board. The contents with a little cracking in places, a previous owner's pencil name to the front free endpaper, tanning to the endpapers, occasional foxing to the edges of the text block and a minor crease to a couple of page corners are otherwise in very good order.
